Altruistic customers and employees at Gulf forecourts, owned by Certas Energy, across Glasgow during December 2015 donated almost £2,500 to Yorkhill Children’s Charity which raises funds to support the babies, children and young people treated at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow (formerly Yorkhill Hospital).
As market leaders in retail fuel supply, Certas Energy is a growing operator of retail forecourts with 24 company-owned sites across Scotland, with shops branded, Spar, Londis and Best One. The Retail division of Certas Energy is part of the largest distributors of fuels and lubricants in Britain, supplying fuel to over 1,200 independently owned service stations across the country
Donating funds to Yorkhill Children’s Charity was suggested by Senga Mulrine, Certas Energy’s Cluster Manager, and widely supported by employees at all of the 9 Gulf-branded retail forecourts which took part by displaying donation buckets on the counter at each site during December 2015. Customers and staff contributed coins and notes at 9 forecourts, all located near the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow: Certas Bellshill; Certas Cambuslang; Certas Carronvale (Larbert), Certas Coatbridge, Certas Haughs, Certas Denny, Certas Keith, Certas Lanark, Certas Newmains and Certas Portland, Certas Hamilton.
Senga commented, “December is a month of goodwill when people are feeling generous and empathetic toward others, particularly those who are suffering or have family in hospital. Yorkhill Children’s Charity at the Royal Hospital for Children is close to all the sites collecting money from customers and, at some point in their lives, most local residents will have benefitted from its services in one way or another. We were delighted with the amount raised in such as short space of time, especially as most of the donations were low value coins but it all added up to a handsome contribution at the end.”
Natalie Cottier, Community Events Fundraising Assistant at Yorkhill Children’s Charity will be receiving the donation from Senga Mulrine at Cambuslang Filling Station at midday on Wednesday 27 January 2016.
Kirsten Sinclair, Director of Fundraising at Yorkhill Children’s Charity commented, “We are incredibly grateful for the support from Gulf and their customers. This very generous donation will help us ensure that our young patients and their families at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow have the best possible care and experience. ”
